New NSF Data-Sharing Policy

The National Science Foundation (NSF), the major support agency for all basic research fields in the U.S., is in process of making changes to its data-sharing policy. What this means for researchers and grant applicants is an additional written plan, up to two pages, that would entail the detail of how the researchers plan to publicly share the data they generate through the funding they receive from NSF.
There are mixed feelings about this policy change. Some feel that it will be redundant. Some feel that nothing will benefit from this change. Some feel that complications will arise.
