Shall we model the brain? Panel of computational biologists discuss!

MetaCell, world leaders in software for neuroscience, is hosting a live panel to discuss the value of brain simulations - one of life sciences' most exciting and pressing topics.

Now more than ever, modelling the brain divides how neuroscientists think about the brain and how it should be studied. Is it worth it to invest years of research and billions of public and private funding to build detailed large scale simulations of brain regions? And if so, why?

MetaCell will host a live talk where experts in the field of neuroscience and computational neuroscience will discuss these and other topics, including questions from the audience.

Priyal Sheth, EVP of Client Relations at MetaCell will chair the panel, and confirmed speakers include:

  • Bill Lytton, Distinguished Professor, SUNY Downstate Medical Center
  • Sean Hill, Professor and Scientific Director, Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics at Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)
  • Anton Arkhipov, Associate Investigator, Allen Institute for Brain Science

By attending the webinar you will:

  • Hear different viewpoints on brain simulations and their value

  • Understand what leading researchers think of brain simulations, and if they find them useful to answer important scientific questions

  • Share your thoughts and questions from the get-go, making the session truly interactive

This live talk will take place on Thursday 10th October at 8.30am PT / 11.30am ET / 4.30pm BST.

If you are interested but unsure whether you can attend or not, please register anyway and you'll receive the recording as soon as it's available.
