Academic Free License
Description: An open source license, identical to Open Source License (OSL) 3.0 except for the reciprocal source code obligation: Under AFL 3.0, Derivative Works of AFL 3.0-licensed Original Works can be licensed under other licenses, and the Source Code of those Derivative Works need not be disclosed. In effect, then, AFL 3.0 is like the BSD license, with no reciprocal obligation to disclose source code. AFL 3.0 differs materially from OSL 3.0 only in that important underlined half-sentence in § 1(c), which now authorizes distribution "under any license of your choice that does not contradict the terms and conditions, including Licensor's reserved rights and remedies, in this Academic Free License." In all other material respects, AFL 3.0 uses all the same definitions and, except for reciprocity, can be interpreted the same way as OSL 3.0.

GNU Lesser General Public License
Description: The LGPL is similar to the GPL (GNU General Public License) in that it allows users to access, inspect, and modify the source code of a tool or resource released under the LGPL, and requires that distributed modifications of the tool or resource to be released under the LGPL. However, tools or resources that only link against a library released under the LGPL may be released under any license.Since the LGPL is typically applied to libraries, end users are in general not affected by the choice of the LGPL. Developers who release a library under the LGPL may miss an opportunity to promote free software (by, for instance, releasing under the GPL), but by using the LGPL may find increased use of their library, and will ensure that if a tool that links to their library may not release its source, the user does have the ability to inspect the workings of the called library routines.
