Notes: Heterozygous stock. Maintain strain by picking Egl heterozygous animals. xe8/xe8 homozygotes burst at the vulva. Heterozygous animals have egglaying defects (Egl). xe8 is a partial deletion of the lin-41 3'UTR eliminating ~450 nt that includes the two let-7 complementary sites (LCS) [I:9,335,206 - 9,335,654]. xe8 is a gain-of-function allele: elimination of two functionally relevant let-7 binding sites relieves repression by let-7 causing overexpression of LIN-41 in L4 stage animals.
