Description: Core facility that provides the following services: Outpatient study facility access, iDXA scan service, Research specimen processing, Research specimen storage, NIH/Industry clinical trial support, Pharmacy laboratory access, Adipose biopsy, Patient assessment and monitoring, Metabolic testing service, Phlebotomy, Support for bone marrow biopsies. The Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC) has two main locations as well as satellite locations. The protocols cover a wide variety of research areas including: HIV, sleep disorders, cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, various cancers, arthritis, hypertension, renal disease, short bowel syndrome, and neonatal and surgical studies as well as new treatments for various diseases. The CTRCs service over 1200 inpatients and over 6000 outpatients a year. Research subjects range from premature infants to the elderly, with the majority of adults being seen at HUP. HUP Unit - Dulles Building: * 8 bed inpatient * 8 chair and 2 bed outpatient unit * metabolic kitchen * Scatterbed nursing services throughout hospital units including the ICUs, ED and operating rooms UPPMC Unit ? 1st Fl Mutch Building: * 18 outpatient treatment beds * metabolic kitchen CHOP Units: * 4 bed inpatient unit - 5 West Main * outpatient unit with 2 treatment rooms, 4 treatment chairs and a consultation room - Main 7 * Scatterbed nursing services in Newborn Nursery - Ravdin Building The nurse manager should be contacted prior to submitting a new protocol submission to the CTRC and discussions should continue throughout the start-up process.
