NIF Webinar - April 17, 2012 at 11:00 PDT
- 11:54am April 16, 2012
- Lee Hornbrook
Hello everyone,
Please mark your calendars.
The next
NIF Webinar will be held on
Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 11:00 am PDT. Please join Dr. Gwen Frishkoff as she discusses
Harmonizing the Representation of Cognitive Processes.
The following is a description of the webinar:
Dr. Frishkoff will discuss harmonization of NEMO, a formal ontology for studies of human electrophysiology, and cogPO, an ontology of cognitive neuroscience protocols (experiment design) that is based on BrainMap. The goal of integrating NEMO and cogPO is to create a framework to support valid mappings from brain to mental functioning. Mental functions are inferred from measurements of brain and behavioral data within specific experiment contexts. Thus, in order to create an ontology for mental functioning that is evidence-based, it will be important to consider the logical and empirical bases for these inferences. We will discuss some insights that could be gained by representing brain data within a formal ontology that also captures the experimental context for these measures in a fine-grained, analytic way.

Mark your calendars! See you there.
The Neuroscience Information Framework (NIF) hosts a semi-regular Tuesday Webinar series on topics focused on collaborating with NIF, getting involved in building the NIF vocabulary, using NIF portal resources, as well as other appropriate NIF topics.--
