The IBVD provides a search of brain neuroanatomic volumetric observations. This is designed to access both group volumetric results as well as volume observations in individual cases.
To find information in the IBVD through the NIF portal, you can type in a brain structure or many diseases to get results.
In the following example we are querying for "cerebellum".

We select the autocomplete for Cerebellum:

Next we look under the category ‘Nervous System Level’ and Brain Regions to find the IBVD data.
Data that comes up is the structure, its volume, and other identifying features of the data such as whether the data were obtained from right or left hemisphere, a normal or diseased brain and the associated publication.
Note, the structure and publication have links. The publication link leads to pubmed, and the structure leads to the IBVD database graph of volumes.

Clicking on the cerebellum in the first row, we are taken to the resource, which has three graphs of brain structure volume vs age of subjects. Both age and volume have standard deviation bars (horizontal and vertical lines around each point) so that data spread can be assessed.

Note, in a small minority of cases the cerebellum link leads to different brain structures, but due to data structure of the IBVD resource this can’t be fixed at this time. So although the data for all data sets are indeed from the appropriate brain structure, at times the link to the graph will be incorrect. To see the graph for the structure that was searched for, just click the appropriate link from the list above the graph.
